Belly Dance Workshop with Tianyi Kiy Sat 25th March 3pm-5pm
Belly dance is an enjoyable way to get in shape while simultaneously getting in touch with your body and spirit. Music is always relevant to the dance and there is no separation in performance. During this workshop, we will explore the intricacy of Egyptian music which is permeated with texture: Music is lush with feeling and meaning on so many different levels - rhythms and counter-rhythms, melodies and counter-melodies, become woven together like the beautiful hand-made fabrics; one's body might be beckoned by the earthy rhythms, and simultaneously the mind catches the flute melody in the background. A good belly dancer is the physical manifestation and visual compliment to the music, essentially, becomes another type of instrument.
Tianyi will showcase 4 textures in the class – ‘Air’, ‘Water’, ‘Honey’ and ‘Dark Chocolate’ – an introductory system to demonstrate the basic belly dancing movements and explain the quality of texture to help students understand the subtlety of each texture in order to response to the music more appropriately.
This workshop is designed to be a joyful way to de-stress, build confidence and re-discover your feminine nature!
Tianyi first started learning Belly Dance in 2004 and soon discovered her true passion for this one of the oldest dance forms in the world. She pursued her dance technique and knowledges of music, instruments and culture by learning from the most prestigious performers and teachers from around the world, including Morocco (C.V. Dinicu), Tamalyn Dallal, Oscar Flores, Karim Nagi, Tito Seif, Asmahan and Estelle Shao.
