Pilates is a unique exercise system that gives long lasting results, a leaner, sculpted body, increased abdominal and lower back strength, and most importantly improved posture.
This is a movement system that can be done on the floor to increase strength, flexibility, stamina and concentration.
Originally called “Contrology” this is a practice that is worked on with the body in its most natural state – in motion. Carefully executing a limited number of movements, by integrating mind and body you achieve an effective, efficient and balanced workout gaining a stronger, more flexible and posturally correct body.
Joseph Pilates, said his goal of physical fitness was the attainment and maintenance of a well developed body with attachment to mind to allow us to perform our many tasks naturally, with zest and pleasure. The aim being to develop the lengthened and strong musculature combined with the body awareness that lead to graceful and elegant movement.
This practice can be done from the very basic to a very advanced level using the flow from one level to the next or to another movement. The premise being that we focus on core control, and then through the breath, we can move and control our body, we can improve our posture and enhance our every day life.
It is a rewarding practice in which all people can benefit immensely, whether it be to help back issues due to our every day life in offices, or over stressed muscles in other daily pursuits, to athletes who need to regain control of movement through core understanding.
